Urban Puddle

It's been a long time since I posted a free music download. I had some rare downtime today (Saturday) so I took the opportunity to expand my music collection and discover a cool new band at the same time. The result is this track from Embarrassing Fruits called The First Time. These guys are a trio out of Chapel Hill, NC. You can check out their MySpace page here and then click this link to download the MP3.

It's been a while since I posted a free MP3 download. Most of that type of activity is now being posted over at Buyindie instead. But this track was too good to share IMHO. It's called Leave and is by Never The Nines. Check it!

Found a great free music track the other day. It's by Ben Kweller who's out of Brooklyn. Since you all know I love trains as well as music you can understand why I'm choosing to post Penny On the Train Track. Ben, if you read this we want to interview you for the podcast!

Ok, not fair to put those both in the same post, but Typo 4.1.1 is still acting up so it's all about making the best use of space. It's been a while since my last entry. Turns out Typo 4.1.1 (the software that powers this blog) has turned into quite a turtle lately. It takes forever to post an entry and even comments have started failing. I'm still undecided as to what to do, but I have a few ideas so don't go very far. To keep you interested, here's a free music download from Montreal's Stars called The Night Starts Here.

A few days back I got to sit down with Luke Hoersten and talk about his music. The podcast is still in the factory getting built, in the meantime, check out another free track called My Back Right Pocket. Luke's music is all under the Creative Commons License!

I'm not publishing music downloads on the puddle as often as I am on Buyindie these days but I had to pass along this one, called Blackheart from Cuff the Duke. One, cool name for a band. Two, what a groovy start to a song! Enjoy!

Hey, it turns out that I'm not the only one who loves Open Source software and music. Luke Hoersten does one better though.. instead of just talking about it he actually creates it. The next Buyindie Podcast we'll be talking to Luke about his songs and I'll even try to sneak in a question about linux if I can. In the meantime, check this track called On My Way.

Eugenia was nice enough to pass along a great link from eMusic. They're having some sort of indie music awards and are promoting it by giving away 25 of the top indie music downloads.

Unfortunately, the hand download all button isn't working so you'll have to grab them one at a time. I haven't had a chance to listen to them all, but if you've got a favorite, please post it in the comments.

If you went to see The Killers tour through London then you may have gotten to see The Rapture. Otherwise, take a minute to get acquainted with this 4 piece band out of New York. This song is called Crimson Red. Grab it while it's hot!
